Okay I know her birthday isn't for another week & a half, but with Travis coming home for a few days, and not being sure when he'd get to come home again, we decided to go ahead and celebrate Parker's 2nd birthday when we knew daddy would be here.
As for Parker, I'm still not sure she understood that all of this was for her. The kids loved waking up & seeing all the fun decorations, (Gideon especially was ready to get the party started while still in his pajamas) but Parker just kind of went along with it to humor him I think.
(Oh a little explanation on this next picture, Gideon wanted to take a picture with my camera & he got one of me. yes, it was early and we were still in pj's. Sorry.)
I was really pleased with how cute the cakes turned out. I got small cakes with cupcake combinations, so I got two, which, when put together read "Happy 2nd Birthday Parker." This way we could have a good mixture of both chocolate and white cake and cupcakes are always easier with kids!
Oh and the flowers were for me. My sweet husband brought them home just because.
After church we started cooking the food & got everything ready. The kids were chilling waiting for people to arrive.
Well except for our impatient little princess who dumped out a brand new bag of potato chips and then ate them off the ground. I'd be upset if she weren't just so cute. So our party went off without potato chips today.
Not to worry though, we had plenty of food. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken, potatoes, salads, fruit, you name it, we probably had it.
Gideon's best friend, Morrison was the first to arrive as he came over while we were still setting up.
We didn't have a lot of people just Nana and Grandpa and two families with young kids that we're pretty close to. My sister, Jesse couldn't make it because baby Tyree has been sick. (So sad! We missed her!)
This is Scarlett trying out Parker's new 4-Wheeler. I love this little girl, she is a kick in the pants! I love her parents too, they're great people & all, but Scarlett just cracks me up!
Parker had a hard time concentrating on blowing out candles, because she wanted to go straight for the frosting.
(Sidebar: Gideon is such a great brother. He's so loving and careful with Parker and always trying to help her. And she just adores him. When she doesn't know where he is, she'll walk around the house calling "Giddy. Giddy." It's super cute how much they love each other!)
And then the pinata. Frankly, Parker wasn't too sure about this.
All of the kids who were big enough to hold a golf club got several whacks at it.
Eventually one good swing from Sara brought the whole thing down.
Things wound down after the pinata & we got to visit while the kids ran off some of their sugar. (Although I'm not sure what Morrison was doing.)
Parker almost fell asleep in grandpa's lap while we were cleaning up.
I'm still not sure she understands or even cares that this was her birthday party. I know she liked getting some new things and getting to eat cake and candy. But that's okay. We're so happy to have her in our family. I still don't know how we ever got so lucky to be blessed with the two most amazing kids on earth. But that's a question to ponder another day. Happy Birthday our little Princess. I love you soooooo much!
