So I have a problem. For the last 3 weeks or so, Gideon won't take naps. He's learned how to climb out of his crib (yes, the mattress is lowered as far as it can go. It has been for months.) So nap time has become a ritual of me lying him down and then listening to him move his furniture around for about 15 minutes until I go in and lay him down again. We do this for an hour to an hour and a half a day. (And yes, I'm serious about the furniture moving. I need to get his room carpeted so he'll quit scratching the hard wood floors.) Once or twice he's given up and fallen asleep. Even more rarely he'll fall asleep playing or watching cartoons (as was the case yesterday.) Please don't suggest to me putting him in the car, because he's got some sort of built in radar that feels when the car begins to slow, so he's usually awake as we pull back into the garage and generally won't go back to sleep.
On my third trip to lay him down today, this is what I found:
A baby powder covered munchkin (who has apparently learned to climb his changing table so it's no longer safe to store lotion & baby powder on the window sill.)
His room looked like it had been the recipient of a powder bomb. There was still so much of the stuff floating in the air that you can see it in the pictures.

Oh my goodness! What a boy!
wow....I was just looking at the picture and thought, "at least he didn't jump from the changing table to try and grab the airplane." Yep, you've got a boy :)
damn, he is good.
damn, he is good.
what a little pill!
Oh Cali!!! That is a fabulous mess!!! :-) What a boy!!!
You are going to hate this, but here is my motherly advice. Time to put the crib away and get out the Jr. Bed. Then, when it is naptime you lay down with him. Yes... I said you! Lay there and quietly read him a few stories. He won't like it, you will have to hold him down probably while he screams and kicks, but after 3 or 4 days he will get the idea. He is a very, very smart munchkin. And yes, at least he is not like Uncle Cody and leaping off of things and breaking his little bones....yet. Love you!
