Who knew church could be so dangerous!

So after Sunday School, I went to pick up Gideon from the nursery. One of the nursery workers told me that he had some small scratches on his face from one of the other kids. But she said he didn't cry for very long so that's why they didn't come and get me.

Somehow I think she was downplaying the damages to make me feel better. He has scratches from his eye all the way down the front of his face along his chin, down his neck and back behind his ear. (The picture really doesn't do it justice.) I don't know what child did this or what the adults were doing while said child was clawing my son's face off, but let's just say this has awakened some maternal instincts I didn't know I had. I think the reason they didn't come and get me when it happened is because they were afraid to. I mean seriously it looks so much worse in person than you can see in the pictures. There's no way this should have been allowed to happen. I understand that kids this young sometimes bite and hit and pinch and scratch, but what I take issue with is the adults. What were they doing while this was happening?

On a semi-related note, I don't think munchkin likes his new church clothes, although I think they make him look very handsome.

He looks dapper in his new church clothes. And good choice with the red shirt, it hides blood stains. I

Wow, I can understand why you are upset, I would be too. Good thing about munchkins is they heal fast.

Maybe it wasn't the church clothes he didn't like, maybe it was a premonition of what was coming. :-)

Poor thing. I would feel the same way. Sounds like they need some more nursery leaders or at least pay more attention to what the kids are doing. I hope he heals quickly.

Being in Nursery is harder than you think, if you have a small nursery than fine blame the adults, But they Just made me the new nursery leader in our ward and we have 5 people for 45 kids. It's like running a marathon in there. However even in our Nursery we are aware enough to never let something like that happen.

I personally think you need to bring the issue up with someone, whether the primary pres or the bishop because, as you said, what the heck were they doing while this was happening...it's not like they are in this huge room where they can't keep an eye on the kids. I do think that the leaders called into nursery are very special and gifted to be able to take care of the kids, but they also need to be responsible.

I got it!!!! The force was not with him while he was in the nursery. This never would have happened if he had had his light saber!

Wow Cali, that is terrible. Honestly, I sure hope you had a nice little chat with the nursery leaders. I know I would have.
