Not bad for homegrown!

We didn't take the kids to the pumpkin patch this year, because there was no need to. Earlier this year we had planted pumpkins in Nana & Grandpa's garden spot and they grew wonderfully.

So today when they returned from fishing (yes, they actually caught a few this time out) Gideon, daddy & I finally got around to carving up the pumpkins Gideon so carefully tended all summer long.

When I was growing up, you just grabbed a kitchen knife and cut a few triangles for eyes nose & mouth and called it good. But these days there are cool tools and patterns so we bought a little booklet and Gideon & Trav spent some serious time deciding on which ones they wanted.

Parker of course thought they were wonderful toys. I'm pretty sure she chewed up whatever parts & pieces she could get her hands on. My job was to gut all the pumpkins and take pictures. But I did my share of carving too.

I think they turned out pretty cute. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon with the family huh?

Fun! You have the perfect TV family-mom, dad, brother, sister, and totally rockin' jack-o-lanterns! Those are good size for home grown pumpkins. Gideon must be a fine little gardener.

Gideon and Nana and Papa did a good job growing the pumpkins! And what fun to look at them all carved. Y'all are real Artists. Parker looks a little scared in the bottom picture though. :-)

Hey Cali, Did they let you help tend the pumpkin patch?

I had nothing at all to do with the pumpkin patch. I didn't even go out and peek at the pumpkins all summer long. As for Parker, she's not actually scared, she's trying to get away from daddy so she can poke her fingers into the front of the pumpkins. That's what she wanted to do.
