Am I a Real Runner Yet?

According to all running books & magazines I've ever read, black toenails are a part of life for nearly every distance runner. They just sort of happen. I realized yesterday morning I have my first black toenail. I even removed the polish from two of my toenails so you can see it.

And of course this begs the question, am I real runner yet?

Uhhh.... is this maybe a sign that running so much is not good for you? I mean, anytime my toenails turn black it is because something happend that wasn't good for me, like dropping a trailer jack on my toe. My toenails have never turned black while wearing stilettos, so I can come to the logical conclusion that wearing high heals is less hazardous than running more than is needful.
